No as in is there is a space in the file path of the directories where you have installed the engine or your location of your project. It can be cheap, it depends how your build procedure works. If each source file in the project compiles to a statically link file, then the recompilation should only be needed on the current file, the rest would be linked as there already pre-compiled.
